An optometrist is a health care professional who has earned a degree of Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) after completing a course of study at an approved college of optometry. Optometrists begin their training with completion of a Bachelor’s degree program at an undergraduate college followed by four years at an accredited college of optometry.
Dr. Sharon Edwards is a 1997 graduate of the University of Houston College of Optometry. She has been practicing at First Eye Care since graduation. In July 2018, Dr. Edwards took the next step and purchased the practice she loves. She completed externships in Corneal Ocular Disease in Dallas, Texas and Primary Eye Care at Pearl Harbor Naval Medical Clinic in Honolulu, Hawaii. She is currently a licensed Therapeutic Optometrist and is board certified as an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist.
When not busy with work, Dr. Edwards enjoys live music, golf, traveling, scuba diving and spending time with her husband, Donnie and their 3 pot-bellied pigs, 2 bulldogs, and African Grey Parrot Coco.
Dr. Tex Cole is a co-founder of 1st Eye Care. He graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1971 and is board certified as an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist. He is a licensed Therapeutic Optometrist treating eye diseases and providing dry eye care. Dr. Cole enjoys golfing and traveling to California to visit his daughter, famous actress, Taylor Cole.
